The cost of cosmetics has just come down!!

I am always so frustrated when my blush, powder or eye shadow gets low and crumbles. I have found myself holding on to the compact for ages, too cheap to throw it out, not creative enough to figure out what to do.

A while ago I read about reviving those bits and pieces of powder into a usable form. Seemed plausible, so I though I would give it a shot.

Supplies:
Shattered makeup
Rubbing alcohol
Small bowl

Welcome to my La-bor-a-tory! I grabbed two old blush compacts, one was always a little too light and one was always a little too dark.

Dump everything into a bowl, if you had a mortal and pestle this would be the time to take it out and give it a spin.

Crush all the bits with the back of your spoon. I really smashed it up well as I didn't want to end up with any lumps in my blush.

I started off adding about a capful of the rubbing alcohol; but that wasn't enough to make the glop pourable. So from that point on I would add a few drops of rubbing alcohol at a time and stir it in well. Once I reached a point where the mixture was no longer glop but more like a thick liquid I stopped.

The whole mixture got poured back into one of the old compacts. I lightly tapped the bottom several times so that the whole mixture would be flat on the top and to release any air bubbles that might have gotten trapped. I sorta thought that the air bubbles might weaken the overall structure of the blush and make it reshatter more quickly.

Then came the hardest part of all, WAITING! When I thought the surface was dry I touched it, whoops, it had only become gloppy enough to leave a Hershey's Kiss curl on the surface. So I tapped the bottom of the compact several times and it leveled right out.

I left it over night and lo and behold this morning it was like brand new! My mind is now going so many directions...could you add a little moisturizer and make it a creme blush? Could you custom mix eye shadows so that the purple isn't PURPLE but instead a nice lilac? The sky is the limit!
